About Us
Insufferable Wenches was formed in late 2024. We are a grassroots advocacy and activism group. We hold monthly meetings in the Cedar Valley, but are branching out to meet at locations all over Iowa! We focus a lot of our energy on keeping the public informed about Iowa Legislature. We work with quite a few Iowa representatives, quite a few of them even follow our page! We attend and host protests, including the UNI protest and Hands Off Rally in Waterloo (although this was a collaborative effort between four local groups so we cannot take full credit for how amazing it turned out!).
We're working on big things here! Our main focuses are as follows:
- Inspiring people to run for office
- Getting young people active and giving their voices a platform
- Being a welcoming and inspiring group
- Giving back to our local communities
So what makes us different from any other group? Like other groups, our goals are all the same! We want Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We want equal rights for all. We want a community that cares for each other! That's what we all want in the end.
What we feel makes us different:
- We stay in contact with legislators that fight for us all over Iowa, not only our county
- We work with other agencies as often as possible
- We believe to win back our government, we have to start from the ground up, so we focus a lot on state government.
So, what do we do:
- We meet monthly
- We plan voter registration events, community building activities, protests, and rallies
- Along with raising money for our group, we also collect items for places like North East Iowa Food Bank and House of Hope
Lastly, and definitely not most importantly, we troll our reps online, in the most constructive way possible. You will see us in Kim Reynolds (and many, many others) comments, pointing out her out on hateful legislation and contradictory stances.
At our meetings we chat, we plan, we play games, we joke, and we eat snacks. Our group has members as young as 21 years old all the way up to retirees. We want to be a space where everyone- any age, any color, any income, any human (well, anyone who doesn't support stripping rights away from human beings of course).

Insufferable Wenches leadership is headed to DC. This is insanely exciting! But even more importantly, we will be the only Indivisible group representing Iowa!
